Site Reliability Engineer

 

 

The role

 

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Kindred we strive to become the No.1 Operator across all markets.We design, code and operate tools and systems to reduce the amount of time and effort necessary for our engineers to provide the best platform service for all our brands. We are strong believers in engineering teams taking operational responsibility for their products and work hard to support them in this. We work closely with engineers to advocate sensible, scalable systems, design and share responsibility with them in diagnosing, resolving, and preventing production issues. 

 

What you will do

 

  • Create a bridge between development and operations by applying a software engineering mindset to system administration topics 
  • Collaborate closely with system owners to ensure that requirements concerning observability (metrics, traces, logs) are part of the design of new systems 
  • Provide best-practices to system owners with respect to observability 
  • Build self-service tools for metrics, traces, logs, and statistics visualisation 
  • Improving existing monitoring & logging solutions and build new ones 
  • Help increase overall site reliability and performance 

 

How will success be measured in this role

 

  • Acting in line with Kindred Group values

  • Successful completion of all relevant training and other compliance activities that support Kindred's sustainableand responsible growth 

 

Your experience

 

  • A good working knowledge of at least one scripting language 
  • A good understanding of Linux environments 
  • View problems as an opportunity to improve 
  • Prefer automation over manual effort 
  • Strong problem solving skills 
  • Have experience with monitoring tools such as Icinga, InfluxDB, Grafana, Prometheus, Fluentd or similar 
  • Have experience with centralized logging tools such as Splunk, Elastic or similar 
  • Have experience with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, Terraform, Artifactory, Ansible or similar 
  • Have experience with cloud infrastructure such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, Amazon AWS or similar
